About Green Room Therapies
I decided to become a complimentary therapist after spending the majority of my working life as a Learning and Development Consultant within the Financial Services sector. There I enjoyed supporting people’s progression, creating innovative solutions, coaching and preparing people for new challenges. I was lucky to meet some great individuals and work with some very talented people, but we all shared one trait of working in a demanding corporate environment – not looking after ourselves! Here came my first realisation that I wanted to do something to help people recognise that, through maintaining health and wellbeing, it’s possible (and easier) to achieve your best in all other aspects of life.
The second and most compelling reason came as a result of personal experience of a potentially life threatening illness within my close family. It was at this time when the benefits of complimentary treatment in the form of reflexology became evident; whilst conventional medicine played its part in the recovery, it was gruelling. Reflexology provided the relief and coping mechanisms to be able to complete the treatment, so vital to making a full recovery. Having initially questioned the validity of something that didn’t have concrete proof, seeing the difference reflexology made was all it took to spark my interest and make me want to research the benefits further.
About to start maternity leave with my second child, I decided it was ‘now or never’; I gave up my role in Management Development and enrolled on my first step to complimentary therapy with a Reflexology course. I haven’t looked back, and having completed a Level 5 Diploma, went on to train in Indian Head Massage.
